Securing Solid Sail

Heading to Saint-Nazaire!

Light on Solid Sail!

This rigid sail developed by Chantiers de l’Atlantique, one of the world leaders in the highly complex ship and offshore installation markets, has been designed to reduce the carbon footprint of the ships on which it is installed by 40%.
Folding like an accordion, this reduced scale prototype is intended for testing. It still measures 38 m high!

What you need to know

  • Context: securing the balestron and ladders with lifelines and the carbon mast with rail systems
  • Fall protection system installed: vertical fall protection cable lifeline VERTILIGNE, vertical fall protection rail lifeline VERTIRAIL, horizontal fall protection cable lifeline ALTILIGNE.
  • Site specificities: custom-made work for which the study was very complex
Maritime environment requiring surface treatment on all parts (lacquering & anodizing)
